Oude Dokken - the Ghent Old Dockyards
The site and the task
The Oude Dokken (Old Dockyards) in Ghent is a huge area. Its masterplan was made by OMA in 2005. Since then, SoGent is working on its realisation. The masterplan has changed and adapted, and many approaches are still unresolved and the team is open for new ideas.
Below, introduction to the workshop:

Background and inspiration
Ghent architecture
The workshop took inspiration from its host city; Ghent.
In the middle of the UNESCO heritage site, there is a new canopy. A former derilict corner on the canal is now a modern library: De Krook, and close to it, we find one of the best examples of adaptive reuse architecture: the Wintercircus
